Senior Services

Senior Nutrition & Meals - We're More Than A Meal!

ABCAP Senior Nutrition provides meals at Congregate meal sites throughout Adams and Brown counties, as well as providing home delivered meals to homebound seniors (Meals on Wheels).

Congregate Meal Sites -All seniors aged 60+ are eligible for a nutritious, hot lunch at Congregate Meal sites, regardless of income. In addition to lunch served at 12 noon, many seniors come early to enjoy the fellowship of others. Site activities include bingo, cards, board games, puzzles, exercise classes, and quilting. Several sites host chair volleyball teams and play other teams throughout the area. We request a small donation to help with meal expenses. For more information about our Congregate Meal sites, please call 937-544-3021 in Adams County, and 937-378-3818 in Brown County. Our staff looks forward to serving you, and remember, we even do the dishes!

Senior Companions – Seniors Serving Seniors

Senior Companions are individuals who help senior clients maintain an independent lifestyle in their home by assisting them with tasks of daily living. Companions, who are seniors themselves, provide a valuable service by reducing the need to place elderly citizens in costly institutions.
Services may include:
  • reading and conversation
  • writing & mailing letters
  • preparing midday meal
  • light cleaning
  • buying groceries
  • assistance with walking
  • sharing a tv show
  • personal care
  • sharing knowledge of hygiene, health & nutrition
  • sharing knowledge of social services and benefits for older americans
You do not have to meet any eligibility requirements to have a Senior Companion. It is based on need, location, and the availability of a Companion.
To be a Senior Companion, you must be at least 55 years old, and meet income guidelines. Senior Companions receive a small, non-taxable stipend, mileage reimbursement, on-duty insurance, and an annual physical exam.  But being needed and appreciated is the real reward.
